Isabel Fernandes
Isabel Fernandes is the General Legal Counsel of Grupo Visabeira since august 2006, which, since April 2009, also includes Grupo Vista Alegre, leading currently a thirteen–person legal team in charge of ensuring in-depth support and advice on all legal subjects taking an essential role within the management structure of the Portuguese multinational and multi-sector company.
Graduated in Law from Coimbra’s University (Portugal), and being a registered Lawyer at the Portuguese Bar Association, Isabel Fernandes professional career is characterized by a diversity of performed functions, at the public and private sectors, as well as countries/jurisdictions where they have been developed over time.
Having initiated the professional career at the Studying and Planning Department of the Portuguese Ministry of Justice, particularly assisting the representation of the Ministry within OECD and European Commission in several legal matters (1993-1994), Isabel Fernandes was then invited to go to Macau as part of the Office for Legal Translation in charge of supporting the Governor within the territory transition process to China, where she stayed for two years (1994-1996). After such, Isabel Fernandes moved to Africa, specifically to Mozambique, having taught Law degree at the country’s first private university before being actively part in the reform of its tax regime and advising some of the most iconic foreign investing projects in the country as Associate Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers Mozambique (1996-2006). Also in Mozambique, Isabel Fernandes was correspondent of the "International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation" (IBFD) (2002-2006).
Isabel Fernandes has assumed since March 2021 the Presidency of the Diversity & Inclusion Commission of the Federation of Portuguese speaking Lawyers (FALP).
